I had the opportunity last weekend to spend some time in the company of Frans Bosch and chat to him about some of his ideas and thoughts on training and motor learning. It’s always great to speak with someone at the top of their game and it got me thinking about my own coaching and training plans. Namely – what more can I do to to make sure the work an athlete does with me transfers to the field effectively?
I have a few ideas I’m trying in training plans at the moment with different chunks of sessions or microcycles devoted towards training transfer. Some of it is geared specifically at making sure certain injury mechanisms are removed and I think that taxing those positions in a wide variety of situations is important in doing that. I’ll let you know how it goes.
