1-2-1 Training programs
Our most popular service, the 1-2-1 incorporates everything needed to create your individually tailored training program, it is made up of 5 stages which are set out below.
At the core of any program is a thorough needs analysis. We’ll get to know where you’re at with your training by speaking with you and your coach/physio. Depending on your sport and training goals we will complete a set of performance tests and a functional movement screen. This allows us to see where you are and gives a baseline to measure your progression against.
Using the information from initial consultation combined with the latest thinking from a thorough review of current sport science literature we design your program. Our programs are built around your competitive schedule, meeting any tapering and recovery needs allowing for optimum performance during your targeted matches or events. We take care to make sure that the program works for you, taking into account your timetable and organise sessions to meet any work, family or technical training commitments you may have.
Your program will contain exercises that require quality technique. Your coach will oversee the delivery of your sessions to ensure that you not only master but understand the importance of that technique and exactly what is required for each exercise in each session.
We place a strong emphasis on using an integrated model of sports development; essentially you should not only know what you’re doing but why, this will help your motivation enhancing the way you train and will come across in the way your program is delivered and monitored. To this end your coach will explain the thinking behind the program explaining reasoning behind it’s design
We also believe that the strength and conditioning coach’s role doesn’t start and finish with lifting weights. We look to bring psychological skills into use and progress them in the same progressive way a training program may develop. A further priority is to instill, foster and develop a work ethic in all athletes that ensures your quality of training transfers to a quality performance.
While you’re training, we want to ensure that progression is being made throughout each training block and that the training volumes and loads are correct. You will be asked to fill out a training diary making a note of loads, how difficult you found the sessions and also a few simple questions everyday. We use this data to keep a close eye on your training volume and markers of overtraining in order to guard against potential development of overtraining syndrome whilst allowing the maximum adaptation to training.
At the end of each training block you will meet with your coach to discuss progress. We will look at the data from your training and go through the performance tests you completed at the beginning of the block as a further measure of progress. After, you will discuss with your coach how you found the training and where to focus for your next block of training, in essence another initial consultation.
