Weightlifter rounded Weightlifting coachingMost of the training programs will utilise the benefits of Olympic lifting or it’s derivatives (see article on the benefits of weightlifting). Some of these lifts are quite technical and can take some learning.  While all programs will be designed with your lifting history in mind sometimes a technique session or two will provide the necessary improvement to make a real breakthrough in your lifting ability. We offer technique sessions to help you develop your technique. These sessions can make use of a number of different methods including:

  • Video analysis – when you can actually see yourself lift from your coach’s point of view, it is often much easier to make the necessary technical adjustments. By recording and reviewing your lifts your coach will be able to guide you through those changes.
  • Technique breakdown – sometimes it will be just one part of the lift that will obstruct progress, for example maintaining straight arms during the early phases of a snatch, your coach can take you through exercises that will target those improvement in those specific areas.
  • Flexibility/movement training – a common feature that can restrict progression when lifting is a lack of flexibility or control during movement, commonly around the hips. Your coach will identify those areas with you and design your sessions with a focus on their development.
